When we first conceptualized Restock Master, the core idea was simple: we wanted to capture the incredibly satisfying, almost therapeutic feeling of bringing order to chaos.

Organizing a physical space has a tangible weight to it. The clack of a jar hitting a wooden shelf, the visual harmony of aligning boxes perfectly, the gradual transformation of a messy room into a pristine sanctuary—these are the feelings we set out to replicate in a digital space.

Designing Tactile Joy

The biggest challenge in a cozy organization game is ensuring that the simple act of placing an object feels inherently rewarding. We spent three months iterating exclusively on the "placement mechanic".

In most games, dragging and dropping an item is a purely functional action. In Restock Master, it's the core gameplay loop. We developed a proprietary physics system that gives every object a distinct "weight." A heavy glass jar of honey feels entirely different to place than a light, cardboard box of tea.

The audio design plays a massive role here. We recorded hundreds of foley sounds for different materials interacting with different shelf surfaces. The satisfying thud you hear when placing an item is dynamically generated based on the item's material, its weight, and the force of the placement.

Every Shelf Tells a Story

We also realized that organization isn't just about neatness; it's about storytelling. The environments in Restock Master aren't just sterile grid-based puzzles. They are lived-in spaces.

As you progress, the items you restock reveal the narrative of the shop owner and the surrounding town. A sudden influx of hot cocoa mix might signal a harsh winter approaching, while the presence of handwritten, slightly smudged labels hints at the artisanal nature of the products.
